Toyota prius 1.5..best ever reliable car
Surprised there’s no mention of Skoda. Very reliable in my experience.
I have a 2006 Yaris. I've had it for 12 years…I only had to replace the alternator (£180) and the battery once or twice. That's it.
I wish this review existed 14 years ago. I have had numerous cars over the years but this video is by far the best guidance to buy used cars. Simple petrol cars are so reliable especially japanese. I have spent £1000s in repairs on diesel German cars. I am now back to petrol naturally aspirated and no issues whatsoever. Thank you. You are the best. 👍
I have owned a Micra that he said was rubbish for almost 13 years its never let me down
Is the 2010 mazda 3 any good? Read a few reviews saying this is a bad year?
My 2014 Fiat Punto Easy has not missed a beat in the 3 years that I have owned it. It has only cost me two front tyres. Could not recommend these cars highly enough!
.
I have a Mitsubishi Lancer 1.6 56 plate. Car's been super reliable. Had it seven years and it's been faultless. Bought German in the past. Merc C200 and 190E and both were unreliable money pits. I wouldn't touch German again.
I know you said no diesels but the VW 1.9 PD engine should be in here somewhere, came in hundreds of cars, the guys at CarThrottle have had 2 with around 500,000 miles on them
No Honda Jazz (specifically the GD). I've got a 56 plate and it's never failed an MOT
Sx4, jazz, c1
10 most reliable cars ?10x Toyota.
A former boss of mine had a Honda Civic. Fuel consumption was scary.
I've had a 2011 Mazda 3 Auto for the last two years and it's brilliant.
Lovely car. Comfortable and reliable.
Can't go wrong with Mazda, Honda or Toyota.
Great video. Thank you.

All Hail Japan
My Honda Jazz was awesome, straight after passing my driving test I took her up to the Scottish highlands and had no issues, I learned the joy of driving with that beauty!
Problem is, when I got back to London the catalytic converter vanished! They're very easy steal on a Honda Jazz..
miata ….miata is always the answer
+1 on the Chevy Spark, but only the manual version. Not sure if you guys across the pond get the same automatic version we do in America. But it is trash! For some bizarre reason, Chevrolet decided to use the Nissan/Jatco CVT automatic in the Spark. (Bear in mind, it's the only Chevy model in America that uses that trans.)
Literally no other Chevy model is equipped with it. And those Jatco transmissions have a tendency to completely fall apart from roughly 10,000 to 40,000 miles on average. And, the problem is usually so bad that it's often less expensive to replace the trans. than trying to get it repaired. (Assuming you can even find a mechanic trained and skilled enough to repair them. It won't be at a Chevy dealership that's for sure.) Oh, and the new trans. won't fix the issue long-term. You'll just get another 10,000 to 40,000 miles before the very same issue rears its ugly head again.
I wish you were my mate!
I would rather walk.
Depressing to see every suggestion was a car from the far East!
I had Swift Sport of that era. Engine blew at 70k miles despite regular servicing.
Chervelott sparks shite
I have a Yaris 1.4 diesel. Bought it second hand 10 years ago. Never missed a beat. Never failed MOT. Never needed parts apart from 2 tyres and 4 windscreen wiper changes. £30 a year road tax. Had 80 mpg on a run. 42 mpg round town. Looks like new after a wash. Goes great. Won't be getting rid of. Stick your EVs.
As a backup car, i still have my VW Bora (Jetta in USA) from 2001. It has well over 500.000km on the clock, don't exactly how much, i changed the dash like 10 years ago. The suspension needs replacing (it's still the original one) and some bushings but it still starts and runs flawlessly. And it's a diesel, and it's a turbo, and it's just 5 speed. I went and test drove a Hyundai Kona electric, it would cost me about 30k USD, and realised, if i put 1000 USD in repairs for my Bora I can spend the rest of 29.000 USD on 18.000 litres of diesel which will take me 362.500km or 226.000 miles….And my other car is a Skoda Octavia 4×4 MK3, just passed the 200.000km mark on it, in another 10.000km I will have to change the belt on it, for the first time. It still has the original bushings and absolutely everything else is still original and in mint condition. So I don't really know what you're talking about when you say "we drove it for 30.000 miles and had no problem"…Is that reliability? I have a car with over 200.000km on it and another with over half a million km on it and they both run perfectly..
A reliable car is the one that reliable drivers buy . Does that mean that cars that are looked after don't give much trouble and are therefore thought of as being reliable .
